During the production and assembly of a complete installation in the Tanis factory, experienced service engineers will check whether the installation passes the factory acceptance test. This means the installation is ready to be built at the customer’s factory.
After transport to the customer site, assembly engineers of the service department will travel to the customer’s factory. They will build the installation under the supervision of an experienced site manager. The team must ensure that the equipment is properly installed and ready to receive ingredients and utilities.
When the installation has been constructed and all utilities are connected, a commissioning engineer and software engineer will come over. They will first test and examine all process units. Control valves, sensors and load cells must be calibrated, and safety valve and pressure relief valve settings must be checked. Electrical connections must be checked and electrical equipment tested. Rotating equipment must be checked for alignment and direction. Piping and valves must be checked for leaks etc.
Once the equipment has been tested, product tests can start. This means the recipe must be setup and tuned until the correct product is made. Finally, when the correct product has been achieved, the commissioning engineer will introduce the operators and maintenance engineers to the installation. On request classroom training can be arranged to train the operators and maintenance engineers. Once the operators are able to operate and control the installation independently, the commissioning engineer will hand over the installation.
